Opening Our Hearts To Ending Hunger One Hoofprint At a Time
Horses against Hunger foundation was started in the Fall of 2011 by Hunter Chancellor to aid in the fight against hunger. With the holiday season rapidly approaching, Hunter saw the need to get the foundation running quickly. Her goal was to collect and donate as many canned goods as possible during the time food pantries and resource centers need them the most.
The foundation was created with the hope of getting people, farms, stables, and horse lovers around the country involved in the fight against hunger. The options for getting involved are endless and can be adapted to any specific farm or stable's needs.
DeLovely Farm in Rockport, IN was one of the first farms to join us in our Horses against Hunger campaign. DeLovely set up HaH food bins in their lounge area and asked customers to bring in canned goods in honor or memory of a horse of their choosing. Special stickers were provided for customers to write the name of their horse on and attach to the donation. We are proud to say the first Horses against Hunger Drive was a success!Because of DeLovely's generosity, Hunter took 190 items to the Rockport Christian Resource Center.
Santiago Stables in Evansville, IN hosted a Halloween Party and asked the children who attended to bring canned food donations. They also plan to have horse camps and clinics where the admission price will be canned goods or a monetary donation to HaH.
